Tokai Hard Puncher PB-80 MIJ 1979 Sunburst Lacquer Finish Vintage Japan w/ Bag
This made in Japan vintage Tokai Hard Puncher PB-80 plays and sounds great! The aluminum pickguard is a spec that was inspired by the late 1950s era Fender pickguards. The tone woods include an alder body, medium "C" shape maple neck, and rosewood fretboard. The lacquer finish has aged beautifully over time!
This bass does show quite a bit of cosmetic wear from over the years that includes various surface scratches, scuffs, dents, and finish chips throughout the body with additional dings along the back of the neck and headstock. The maple neck and headstock have aged from over time and parts of the Tokai Hard Puncher logo has peeled off. The hardware and pickguard also show normal tarnishing. The frets are lightly oxidized and appear to be lifting slightly on the upper frets. There's some minor fret buzz on the upper frets but overall the strings are playing well with medium action. All of the electronics work as they should.
The thumb rest has been replaced, otherwise this bass is original.
